I was trying to take advantage of Deliveroos welcome discount yesterday (total came to £7.01 after discount). When I came to pay it said my card details were wrong & couldn't proceed.
HSBC then sent me a text from the fraud team saying they had stopped a payment of £24.99. asked me to confirm if it was me or not. As my order wasnt this much I said no but after I re-read it realised I should have said yes - whoops.
Anyway - They called me within 10minutes and were very good on the phone. Confirmed increased payment had been stopped and reinstated my card for future use.
Sounds like the deliveroo website was having a bad day as it wasn't a fraudulent transaction (as I had tried to order via then) but the value was far higher than my bill.
Can't fault HSBC fraud team though. Very quick to act👍

Good to hear. I had a very similar experience with Santander last year (stupidly hit 'no; instead of 'yes' - and then all hell broke out as far as security is concerned
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Why should you have said "yes"? It wasn't you wanting to make a payment of £24.99.HampshireH said:I was trying to take advantage of Deliveroos welcome discount yesterday (total came to £7.01 after discount). When I came to pay it said my card details were wrong & couldn't proceed.

If you had said "yes" then wouldn't you have been debited the wrong amount?1 -
Deliveroo, like all other sites that do the same suffer a lot of fraud.HampshireH said:Sounds like the deliveroo website was having a bad day as it wasn't a fraudulent transaction (as I had tried to order via then) but the value was far higher than my bill.

It was when I was on the phone and had to explain why I thought I sounded daft
Either way I was impressed by them, less so Deliveroo
