Lost £9000 through eBay

Hi
I bought a Van on eBay on 3rd December 2020 I paid £9000.00 on a link that was sent via the sellers email the link was a fraud, the transaction was all done via the eBay platform, I have contacted eBay, eBay crime enforcement, Action fraud, office of fair trading, the bank I paid it through it was a fast payment so no comeback according to the bank, DVLA , know body will give me the sellers details so I can take civil action, my local MP took some interest he wrote to the managing director of eBay but had no reply, the Seller is still on eBay he hasn't sold anything lately but still racking up the 100% feedback which totally convinced me.
I have nowhere to turn to.
Has anyone else had the same problem with eBay?

What payment method did you use?In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0

Faster payment via an email they were sent by the seller.
eBay won't cover as transaction outside of their platformEx forum ambassador

Why would you do that? The time to do a transfer, if you want to do it that way, is when you are sitting in the vehicle after agreeing to purchase it and about to drive off after doing so. Any other method would be wide open to the seller stealing your money. (I would also assume your seller was not the one with the ebayu account and it was someone else's stolen details and a sale they know nothing about).1

Sorry to hear this OP, I think the money might be lost.
You say the seller is still selling, is that vans and cars or bits and bobs? Could well be a hacked account and the owner of it is unaware of what's happened. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Well I think I have lost the money and the old saying there is no fool like a old fool come to mind but the real reason I put this on was to let people know that you can be scammed via eBays email service and and sent a false Bay link and there is nothing you can do nowhere to turn all I the name of s da area protection

Ebay's email service? Are you saying you clicked on an email that [looked like it] was from ebay?
Apologies for asking the obvious, but did the message [email] appear in your messages dashboard?0 -

Has anyone else had the same problem with eBay?Have you tried Trading Standards via your local council. They can intervene, although would probably want your purchase to be a consumer one so the van would need to have been bought for personal rather than business use. They may still help if not.Are you certain that you have paid the Ebay seller and not someone impersonating them or who had access to their account?
Getting their address and taking court action may just end up costing you more money.

How did the seller obtain your email address ?0

As above unfortunately it looks like you have fallen for a spoof email. I haven’t seen this particular scam for ages and I can see that it might catch out someone new to buying online.
ebay say this about buying vehicles and warn against using bank transfer specifically in their help pages.

Whilst it is too late for the OP, this page is particularly helpful and it goes through the scams , including the paying direct one - although it is worth noting that motor vehicles are exempt from using PayPal and cash on collection is recommended only once vehicle is inspected.

One thing they used to do, and may still do, is have bots that trawl through email accounts with the Ebay user name. So if the account is RFW12345 they would email RFW12345@variousemailaccounts.com going through Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc..Rantband said:How did the seller obtain your email address ?
