Was my cheque legally valid?

Hi. As the registered keeper I received a contractual parking charge notice from G24 dated 29th Dec `20 for an overstay. I`m NOT disputing the overstay.
On the day I received the CPCN I tried several times to pay online via the payyourcharge website but couldn`t get it to go through, I didn`t want to pay via the phone because I wouldn`t be able to print out proof of payment. I then went to my online banking and ordered a chequebook which I received 8 days later on Friday 8th Jan. It was still within the timeframe for the reduced payment of £60.00. Next day Saturday 9th, my cheque and invoice were posted using the PO tracked and signed for next day delivery. It obviously wasn`t able to be delivered next day, as it was a Sunday. My payment was collected by them on the final due date of 11th Jan, which I have printed proof of.
On 4th of Feb I received a Final Notice and they now want £100.00.  On the notice it only tells me I can pay by cheque and how to do so - It doesn`t say the funds have to have cleared by the 14th day (11th Jan), if it had done so I could understand why I received the final notice!   I thought cheques could be processed digitally these days thereby saving time and clearing sooner, possibly the day of receipt.  My cheque was in their possession on the 11th so why haven`t they cashed it or returned it to me?
I have proof of posting and their having collected and also the date I ordered the cheque book ( haven`t had one in years!) There is no way I could get payment to them any sooner. Do G24 have a legitimate reason not to have accepted my first payment?  Anxiety levels are through the roof!!
Thanks for reading
Best Regards. Sue

I have no idea why anyone would voluntarily pay an unregulated scammer, nor why anyone wouldn't dispute the scamvoice.

We help people fight these charges every day of the year, and would never advise anyone to pay the mugs discount because the charge is always £100.

BrownTrout I`ve checked my account every day and the cheque hasn`t been cashed. How else should I have paid what seems to me a legitimate charge?

you are not dealing with a normal company here , you are dealing with the dregs of society , compamies that can only make money by reaping the minor failings in humans
you were offered the chance to pay by several methods , you chose the cheque option as it would leave apapertrail (for accvounting perposes) the cheque was delivered to there recorded premices on time

if they cannot be bothered walking to the bank , that is not your fault

stick fast , and retain paperwork , yhou WILL get debt crawlers chaading you , refer them to your paperwork and adk them to return the case as there is nothing to answer

So how do I stand LEGALLY? From your replies you are all experienced with dealing with this company but not offering any logical advice. I feel as though time is running out and I might just die of fright!  :/
  • yes , hope that they do not cash it for 6 mths and the cheque times out

any threatagrams or letters , simply tell them that a cheque was posted and you have proof of delivery , and to check the dog $%^&$ to see if fido has eaten it

should it progress to court , you can simply produce the cheque stub and proof of posting , commenting that the cheque seems not to have been cashed , but yet the company have never asked you to send a new one of the same value , nor have they asked you to cancel old cheque and send replacement

YOU cancelling the cheque , would a: cost you upto £35 (dependeny on bank) and be an offence , tendering a cheque that was invalid

Thank you Blackdog2220. I have all the relevant paperwork. Any idea how things might go for me once I show paperwork to any debt collectors that may emerge? I still don`t know if the cheque was acceptable on that date!  :# lol
