This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning All
Brrrr, chilly this morning. A faint covering of snow/hail - not really sure which, looks like little tiny hail but is floating down.
The rain let up briefly yesterday, after I had been for a rather wet walk.
The oven got a jolly good scrub yesterday, can't remember when I last did that but it wasn't too bad as I generally use the halogen oven. I made porridge for my breakfast yesterday, it overflowed so then had to give that a good scrub. I opened all the windows yesterday and gave the house a good airing, washed and dried all the throws and cushion covers too so the living room smells lovely and fresh.
Nothing pressing today (again) apart from a walk. Hugs to those in need. Take care. XX11 -
Good morning and thank you for the thread ScarletRibbons.
No snow as yet but there is a bitter wind here, apparently the snow is due to start later but the met office does change its mind a lot. Even the birds are staying in their nests. Not much happening here. Might clean the bathroom later, not until I've had my shower and I don't want to go up until OH has had his Sunday lie in. Even if the snow stays away, it is too cold to do anything outside in the garden. I have lots of things to occupy myself indoors but the wintry sameness is getting a bit trying. I coped with being locked down far better when I could spend lots of time outside.
Online training course tomorrow so I will need to read the course materials today a n d think.of something to make for dinner.
Hope everyone has a tolerable day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -

Sorry for my absence - my DF was taken ill and I spent a rather uncomfortable night in A&E on Friday night. I think he is on the mend now and at least is home. So, I'm worn out from losing a whole nights sleep but I am determined to keep on top of everything at home as it makes me feel more in control (plus I never know when I might be back in A&E!). On the plus side, I remembered to take my kindle so I managed to finish a book and start my book club read for this month!
Anyway onto today - I'm a bit late up and about but I've had a good clean round and am now having a coffee. I will get my DF up and about soon and then do breakfast - I fancy some toast and jam this morning. Not sure about lunch but have cottage pie ready so probably that.
No other real plans - will try and rest this afternoon all being well ahead of my starting working week (from home) tomorrow.
I've been reading along so I am up to speed and I send my best wishes to you all - so many people with different struggles right now - let's hope things settle soon.

Good morning all; awaiting the forecast snow here!
Quiet day today. There's a bit of ironing to do and some duck to cook for dinner. We'll have it with couscous and pak choi. Then there's the rugby to watch of course.
Other than that I'll probably be reading, knitting and twiddling my thumbs!
Happy Sunday everyone13 -
Morning folks.Outside the temperature is hovering at 0 degrees, no frost but decidedly nippy. I have no plans for today. We have enough cake and proper food, I don't want to go out as I'll be doing that tomorrow for an appointment with the optician. That means a trip into town though I may postpone it until after I've had the jag. I don't know, such indecision is tearing me apart. Is going on a bus a risk? Being so close to the optician, is that a risk? Am I worrying too much or being too complacent? All these questions are on a loop in my mind. I'd really like to postpone it until three weeks after I get the jag so will phone them this morning. Decision made! Seeing it all written down really helped. 🤣
DM still asleep. I'm going to do some browsing for a little while. I hope that everyone can hang on just a bit longer. Happy Sunday to all.12 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Grr to the post pincher, it's so annoying. No snow here yet but it seems the south east have the pleasure of that. AOD you are right, the forecast does keep changing. For us anyway. My bf lives down in the valley bottom and they were on flood alert yesterday. As of last night they were still safe but she said she doubted she would sleep much.
Dw emptied as cba last night and bedding chugging away in the wm. I don't plan on doing a lot else beyond eating and reading. Yesterday's mammoth Tesco order was delivered all p & c (only sub being 2x6 eggs instead of 1x12!!) The fridge is now stuffed, fruit bowl overflowing and store cupboard groaning under the weight.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies and p***ed off. As always RUBY snd MARIE in my thoughts. Take care one and all and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
With a sudden burst of energy I was up dressed and up to the local garage to get petrol and the Sunday paper before 9 o'clock! A rare event. Going to have roast pheasant dinner later and will make some bread sauce to go with it. Bitterly cold here but like others have said the forecast keeps changing but it certainly cold enough for snow. My son called in yesterday and brought more logs in so I think a day in front of the log burner beckons. Best wishes to all12

Morning all
Very cold here and we have had a tiny bit of snow this morning not enough to settle but there is more due at 11 so we will see. fingers rossed we get some more.
Ordered a click and collect from Mr T for us and my mum, im hoping OH will go and collect it, we will bring it back here and sort mums out and then take it round to her, mum bought a bit of beef for Christmas which was still in her freezer so I am cooking that today for her and us I will do enough for tomorrow too, it will be good for her to get out for a while too.
The funeral is on Friday at 9am it will be a quick 10 minute service but enough time for us to say goodbye, thank you everyone for the kind thoughts and messages, they have really touched my heart.
Hope Marie is ok and Rosy is recovering xx
Take care everyone and stay safe xx11
