Any ideas on what to buy a newly qualified teacher

I'm a teacher and I like the same sort of presents that any 'normal' woman would.... chocolates, luxury bath products, champagne, perfume, etc etc etc!
However, if you specifically want to get her something related to teaching then I have a few suggestions:
Her own wall staple gun (with supply of staples) I've had mine for 26 years and it's invaluable for for doing displays! School ones tend to go missing and are impossible to locate just when you need one!
A staple remover... ditto remarks above.
A year's subsciption to the TES (Times Educational Supplement)
A silver whistle
Gloves, hat and handwarmers for when she's out on playground duty
Something fun to make yourself....for someone who has been teaching all week... A Friday night revive pack... containing 'voucher' for a lay down in a quiet room for an hour with an eye mask, heat pad, soothing music CD and a miniature bottle of brandy! This could be followed by an 'adult only' film, some popcorn and a bottle of wine!“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

As a new teacher, I'd really appreciate something to help me relax at the end of the week- a pamper hamper as previously suggested or something similar! Bottle of wine, choccie, snuggly slippers, scented candles, nice film... That kind of thing!
As for teaching related stuff, I get through hundreds of stickers, coloured card, glitter, glue etc. Or maybe a laminator?? I use mine ALL the time, it's been invaluable!
Hope this is of some help?
Good luck with it all!!0 -

Ooooh yes... I'd forgotten how much I use my laminator... I'd second that idea! Alternatively a rotary trimmer (safer than a Guillotene) is very useful too!“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

My fiancee's an NQT and to be honest, I think he'd hate to recieve anything teaching related for Christmas. It's his holiday, he doesn't want to be reminded of work. Sorry if that sounds blunt, I'm just being honest0

You could train another teacher for £24

and there are other school related gifts too, such as buying school dinners and text books for children. Here I go again on my own....0 -
The Works have had a brilliant book, showing you how to make curriculum related items out of paper etc. as a TA myself I know teachers are expected to create incredible displays out of nothing over night. This is brilliant, I cant find my copy to give you the title though,I suspect it has been borrowed by a teacher!0
