Which Router for Virgin Media

I thought I read somewhere that not all routers are compatible with Virgin Media. Can anyone reccomend one which is?

I have a v.92 modem and wish to run two computers wireless and one which is near the socket.

  • I have Virgin Media Broadband and I have a TP-Link TL-WR642G 108Mbps Wireless Router. It works well, I have no complaints.

bit pricey ,but it's got everything and a bit more ..Easily able to take the virgin 20 mb .And you get the chance to have the hub of a gigabit network in the house .

Mine was only £20 from SVP, they have a good range of routers here
  • Can I add a quick question here as I'm looking for an ADSL wireless router for someone who has a laptop but also an Apple Mac, now I'm assuming the MAC can be connected via the ethernet cable and then the laptop wireless?

Are you talking about Broadband or dial-up? V92 is for dial-up only, so a router won't work with it.

    For Broadband:

If you mean cable, then you need a cable/dsl wireless router, such as a netgear wgr614v7.

If you have a BT line and get Virgin's adsl service through it, you need an adsl model, e.g. netgear dg834g

Try amazon or ebuyer for cheap prices, and alternative models.

I'm confused now. I am on broadband. My two older Dell comps have 56? modems.
The new computer I have from Dell has v.92 internal modem and cable modem RJ11 whatever that means ???

So will it be compatible with a router?
