bought online cancelled purchase

hello I very stupidly bought an Item online without reading the reviews something I don't normally do when I did read them they were appalling and many felt they had been ripped off, by way of what the company were offering to what they actually got I wanted to cancel the order straight away which I think according to the consumer rights I can do. From the time of purchase I facebooked  and  emailed  the company asking to cancel this order they are a German company so it was an overseas purchase, In the email I sent a screenshot of the receipt, this all took place within an hour of me buying,  I got a reply just saying thank for my order, The bank wouldn't cancel the payment because it hadn't been taken yet, I then sent 2 more emails requesting my cancellation to be acknowledged to no avail. THE next day I got an email telling me my order was on its way and funds had been taken, now the bank say I need to take up the dispute with the company I don't want this item, can I refuse the  delivery or should I physically return the Item to be in with a chance of getting my money back  thank you

If you bought from Germany your UK consumer rights will not apply, you need to investigate you rights based on German law.

 I had a feeling that would be the case all I can do then is hope they abide by their returns policy many thanks for your reply
