How to check EHIC expiry date?

I applied for a GHIC card at the earliest opportunity but haven't received one. My son applied later and has got his, I am assuming it's because my EHIC hasn't expired (I've long since lost it) and his had.
I've read the MSE article telling us to check whether our EHICs have expired, but all it says is "It's easy to check the expiry date of your EHIC – it's the date at the bottom right of the card, where it says, er, 'expiry date'." 
Is there any way to check EHIC expiry dates (e.g. online) if you don't have the physical card?

The old EHIC didn't have to expire before you could get a new one. 

Apply for another GHIC if it hasn't arrived.

I was going off the NHS's wording that "once your EHIC has expired, you’ll be able to replace it with a GHIC". Plus the fact that my son's EHIC had expired.
I'll wait another week and then reapply if it hasn't arrived.

My new UK Global Health Insurance card just arrived in the post this morning.  It took about three and a half weeks from application to arrive. Perhaps your card will also arrive this week.

I notice that if you live in Northern Ireland you can have the flag removed!
