Type of filter for my cooker hood?

Good Morning Folks

I have just moved into a new property and want to change the filter for my cooker hood.

I have been reading the cooker manual and it states that 3 types of filters can be used - Fleece Grease Filter, Metal Grease Filter and Active Filter.

Can someone kindly explain the difference between the 3 and the best one to install?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

If it is a recirculating hood, then use an active charcoal filter.
For an extractor that vents to the outside, then I'd go for a metal grease filter that can be washed periodically.

We had throwaway filters in a recirculating hood . I got mine off ebay. You do have to remember to keep some spare. We then had an external hood  fitted with metal filters which  were great as I could either put them in the dishwasher or spray them with mr muscle or elbow grease and rinse them under the tap. They both seem to work if you keep them clean.

Can you tell us the make/model of cooker hood or share a pic?

The fleece grease filters are disposable and last for around 2-3 months, the advantage of a metal filter is that it can be cleaned and reused. Active charcoal filters are there purely to remove odours and used if you are recirculating rather than venting.
