The mouse should be paying rent. Either to you if it's a lodger, or to your landlord if you have a joint tenancy.
    Seriously, buy this:
    Peanut butter works well.
If the damp patch might be causing damage eg by rotting woorwork then your duty to act in a 'tenant-like manner' requires you to report it, in writing, to the landlord, at the postal address provided 'for serving notices'.

    Hi

the property is managed by a estate agent. I did mention this when I move in, but they didn’t take any action.

I can see the plaster is peeling off and getting worse, do I need to report again?

Hmmm. Might the OP be subletting in breach of the tenancy?

I live in a rental in rural Northumberland, and have the humane traps which I check regularly.  Bait them with chocolate, take the mouse as far away from the house as possible.  Mouse traps sometimes only injure them horribly by catching their leg, not something I want to deal with.

We had that happen with a rat in a trap in our garden - caught by a leg and still alive. Husband had to despatch it amid a lot of squealing. Not pleasant.

Other disadvantage of poison is if another animal eats the poorly or dead mouse it gets poisoned too.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I did this a few times way way back - and then got suspicious. Finally a put some tipex on a mouse's back, drove about a mile away and released it.
It turned up again about a week later......
I wouldn't, unless you don't mind them wandering off to die and rot somewhere inaccessible, possibly leading to a pretty horrible smell for a few weeks.
Mice don't smell when they die/rot - at least not that I've noticed. Now rats! They really do....!
