Carers vaccination

Slightly OT but we do look after our grandchildren when their parents are at work. Our son has
been working from home since March last year but his wife left work when we were too scared to look after the 3 & 4 year olds,
IE covid transmission. She needs to return to work like most where we live, they have a massive mortgage, etc.
So, would I and my husband be classified as 'carers' and could we jump the line?  (I have very poor gums, gums disease at more at risk and history of a couple of other conditions) FYI, we all agreed that we would not send our 4 year old grandchild to nursery this was in October.

    No I don't think so.

Hi, I don’t think you would qualify on the grounds of needing to provide childcare. If your conditions fall into either clinically vulnerable ( group 4 or high risk ( group 5) then you should be sent for when it’s your groups turn ( group 4 already sent sent for. ) If you are over 65, you would also be in group 5.
As for the 4 yr old not going to nursery, the government advised that the risk was negligible so they didn’t close. As you are not looking after your grandchildren anyway, would it be possible for him to return to nursery to allow his mum to work? I understand that it’s a worrying time and there is no easy answers.

Very unlikely for childcare reasons. Gum disease doesn't mean you're CEV either.

The person who mentions gum disease, if it is Lichen Planus or Sjogren's syndrome it effects the immune systems...so not sure whether that would warrant it.  Maybe person would need to speak with GP or Dentist.
Some conditions can be quite serious -  thankfully my dentist is on the ball and I am now discharged into his care after going back and forth to hospital over the last five years.
As for the OP letter has gone to GP from brother regarding him as carer and vaccine, he too has same GP  so hopefully he will get moved up list.  Carers UK is great site for advice.
