Royal Mail claim delivered item yet wasn't. Their explanation doesn't tally.

Yes I have the tracking number.

It's 15 numbers, 1 letter, 2 numbers, 1 letter, 2 numbers.

Royal Mail tracking numbers are 2 letters 2 blocks of 4 number 1number and 2 letters, ie AB 1234 5678 9GB this is the same for SD, Signed for and Tracked parcels.

Which is what I expected yet when I click the tracker in eBay it takes me to the RM website and brings up details but it's not in that format.

It also isn't the first time that I've had a tracker not in that format on eBay which also brings up details on the RM website.

Not always - the format described is for a Royal Mail Parcel number - for instance 3204874590002341F9840
