Yes the glass looks beautiful.But will it help to realise every single person going up and down will leave fingermarks so you will need to clean it every day?Just trying to make you feel better about changing plans

We've done similar but with 4x4 'spindles' as we had a steel that size that I wanted to disguise. We've put a handrail on the solid wall.I think we spent less than £300 on wood. More on the carpenter to put it together, but it wasn't much more effort than ordinary spindles and bannister.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks for everyone's help. I've found a couple of people who can do stair refurbs so I'm going to see what they can do. If not, then I have quite a few more companies that can do what I want as a complete stair replacement.0
