Useless legal conveyancer who

Hi,
I am selling and purchasing house for the last 4 months. It’s a fairly straightforward has small chain with my ftb and empty house I’m purchasing. My conveyancer and his assistant have been completed useless, firstly they lost my property information pack which I posted straight away, they eventually found it in admin. They also manage to lose draft contracts and property information pack from the sellers solicitor who posted them 4 weeks back and twice emailed to the conveyancer. The EA finally sent them to the conveyancer and his assistant and also to me.
The conveyancer was also slow in answering enquires from buyers solicitor but eventually when pushed he answered them. Luckily for me another person who was temporarily standing in for him send enquires to the sellers solicitor.
my sale side is done and just waiting for several weeks for the purchase side to catch up. My buyer is getting impatient and I’m worried he will pull out. My useless conveyancer reviewed the replies from the enquires a week after receiving them and sent back on four points requiring further information.
This has dragged on for several weeks and no sign of urgency on his part even though I have told him my buyer is getting impatient and may pull out.
The complaints dept also useless and didn’t respond to my email.
I really should have dumped them right at the beginning when the misplaced my paperwork. I chose them has they had good reviews on trust pilot.
How can I get him to work with any urgency?

Pay a sizable sum to receive priority treatment ahead of everybody else that's attempting to beat the stamp duty deadline. Biggest problem will no doubt be working from home. Despite claims to the contrary. For many it's a far less effective way of working.1

I’m close to exchange on sale and waiting for satisfactory replies to enquires on purchase and if the conveyancer is happy with enquires he will sent out title report with the relevant paperwork for exchange and completion.
Should I offer him extra £500 to have it completed by end of February?
He has 7 weeks to stamp duty deadline.0 -
It's all completely standard these days, I'm afraid. Paying more will just get you more expensive incompetence. And they're oblivious to how different they are to other service industries.1

Yours is just one transaction out of hundreds your solicitor is currently dealing with. All clients think that their own case is urgent. Your solicitor will be more than capable of prioritising his own workload and will work on the transactions in a priority order and urgently as and when it is needed and they are very aware of the stamp duty deadline. I doubt very much that your solicitor has 'guaranteed' a completion date before the deadline ends, but you still have around 7 weeks to go.0
