Really?? Is this true?

I have 2 credit cards. One Fluid with £2k limit and Natwest with £4k limit. Both used each month for daily spends and paid off in full each month. No late payments yadiyadah.
Logged on to one of my reports last month and it said in relation to my limits I have work to do. My initial reaction was that I was nowhere near either limits but it was actually telling me I needed a higher limit available to me across the board and that I should aim for 15k as this would make me more attractive to lenders.
Applying for a FTB mortgage in the next 6 months and want to be in the best shape I can be......should I apply for limits to be increased or get another card (s)?

I’m guess you saw this on Credit Karma? You should take it with a pinch of salt and ignore what it’s telling you. It’s just a marketing ploy to get you to see what offers they have and then apply via that offer so they get a fee from the credit provider for referring you to them.

As you’re looking at applying for a mortgage in the next 6 months it’s probably a good idea not to apply for any new credit products until after your mortgage is completed.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

Did they not also chastise you for not having a mortgage?

Ignore what the CRAs have to say, it's often complete hokum.

Mine says the same about a £15k limit. I have a £6.8k credit card limit and my mortgage application last year was a breeze.

Yeah and once you get a mortgage the score will drop because the don't like that you've changed address. Funny how some of us have to move after buying a house.

I got a mortgage last year and my equifax credit score currently is in the toilet. For some reason equifax thinks I have closed all my accounts and removed my self from the electoral register, rather that realise I've moved address.
Can't update my address on clearscore because it says I have to change it via my credit providers. If only I hadn't closed all of my accounts...

  • Great, thanks all for your advice. @Yahoo_Mail yes funnily enough they did! 🙄

My limit is 1200 and I have got a mortgage
  • Ignore it, they don't lend you money or provide credit.

My CCJ dropped off last month. Credit file updated again and said I should have £15k across my CC not the near £6k I do have available.

Just keep an eye on the credit history, make sure everything is paid on time, don't go over limits, don't use an overdraft and ignore the CRA 'advice'.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
