Price comparison sites don’t offer you the cheapest car insurance!

Hi,
just had my renewal through and it had increased by £70. So I did my usual and went on money supermarket to get a quote. Imagine my surprise when I saw a quote from my insurer for exactly £70 less. I called my insurance company and asked for the cheaper price. Apparently I can’t have it. That is their new business price. I’ve been with them for five years and so don’t deserve the reduced price.
it turns out it was my fault I had got the new business price. I have moved home and the price comparison site remembered my old address with a very slightly different postcode. Actually that was a higher risk area. But it was enough for the tool to not spot me as a returning customer.
the best prices are held back for new business and the price comparison sites block these for returning customers.
my insurer is Saga.

I'm surprised that you're surprised - it's always been that way. Either negotiate (which seems to have failed) or move on to the closest offer, then return next year.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3662

That will be because you have already had the reduced price in the past.
