Did you sign a contract with them? If so, they will take a cut of any successful PPI complaints.

The best thing is to pay it ASAP. Claims companies are very good at extracting money they are owed.
  • You signed a contract with them to make the complaint, you won the complaint - so you pay them out of the refund you got from the cheque in February?

It wouldn't do. The vast majority of redress payments are made direct to the consumer.

If you wish them to consider a payment plan then you have to evidence that you are in financial hardship and cant afford it.    However, as it has taken them a year to come to you, then you reasonably have a year to pay them back in full without the need to show hardship.

Again, it won’t do. They’ll have been CC’d into all of your correspondence.

They deal with hundreds of thousands of people similar to you who decided to pay someone to undertake a free process. Quite often they’ll end up losing letters and may have only recently gone back to your lender for a copy of your final response letter and have them subsequently billed you. They have 6 years to do this.

It’s not easy keeping track of thousands of invoices for doing next to nothing, though I imagine this has been expedited now as they’re shutting up shop at the end of feb.
