Hotels.com credit coupon

I have a credit coupon for hotels.com which is valid until May 2021.  This was for a cancelled holiday from last May (booked pre COVID-19) Hotels.com currently have no plans to extend these credit coupons despite the fact that it is unlikely we will be in a position to travel before May 2021, so I could potentially lose the value of the voucher which is worth more than £1000.
Hotels.com have told me to call back the week before the voucher is due to expire as they might have updated their policy.
Has anyone else had a issue like this?

  • Just wait until nearer the time as they say.  Nobody knows exactly what the situation will be in May. Hotels will be hoping they can open.  I doubt you will lose your money. You are unlikely to get any answers to “what if’s” because nobody knows.
  • I too had a credit coupon which expires in May 2021. I have just used this to book for November 2021. However, a word of warning, the voucher is only valid for hotel booking and excludes any taxes and fees, so you need to pay this on top of the voucher even though the voucher already included this.  It is all written in the terms and conditions but a little bit naughty I think.

Why is it a little bit naughty if its in the terms and conditions ?
It would be naughty if they werent in the T&C's.
