Was notified by this the other day on a money email from Savings Champion.
this is an agricultural bank, and has just launched this offer to the public
3yr fixed rate 1.05%. Checked them out, and opened within minutes.

18 days to add funds. Deposited opening account of £1000 and received acknowledgment e-mail nearly immediately.
They also have a 95 day notice account of 0.62% again for £1000 minimum.
this was by invitation through Savings Champion site. If you go straight to Oxbury Bank website, the offer isn’t there yet to individual savers, just farming customers.
Since I have a fixed rate bond finishing soon and new rates are dire, seems to be my best bet.

Hmh. May be not as good as Savings Champion make it sound.

A bit better on the notice account.

Fair enough, I’ve stopped bothering with notice accounts since they are variable and have had some huge drops with some and have binned them.
Also some banks now have an expected profits but also no compounded interest, that puts me off.0 -
The current 1 year Bond from Oxbury looks tempting at 2.23%, but as MSE mentioned a smartphone is required to access on-line accounts. However it's not just a smartphone, but a smartphone with biometric sensors. If your phone doesn't have that, or is rooted or has a custom ROM the Oxbury app won't work.So unless you are prepared to buy a suitable new phone, forget applying or you could waste a lot of time!0

Are there still any smartphones that don't have some sort of biometrics?ludemon2 said:So unless you are prepared to buy a suitable new phone, forget applying or you could waste a lot of time!
I think it is reassuring if a banking app doesn't work on a rooted phone.

With the amount of competiition out there for savings, I wouldn`t jump through hoops to save with any of them that make it difficult to open an account with them.
As for buying a new phone, as with the well commented on new Chase account, the whole idea is nonsense, just to gain a tiny amount more than the next best on offer.

Especially as in 6 months time , the Chase account may not even be that competitive anymore .2010 said:With the amount of competiition out there for savings, I wouldn`t jump through hoops to save with any of them that make it difficult to open an account with them.
