Mortgage Offer amount is more than documented in the Help to Buy Agreement
My husband and I are purchasing a property using the pre December 2020 Help to Buy Scheme. Santander have been extremely slow with a mortgage offer. We both work and have paid off all our loans and credit cards. We received our mortgage offer on 27 January 2021 and our solicitor noticed the discrepancy of £10,000 in the Mortgage Offer and the Help to Buy Agreement. We would like the Mortgage offer to be £10,000 less. We do have a mortgage broker who is working hard to get this sorted. However, please advise whether this should be easily rectified by Santander in a matter of hours or within 2 days or would we have to go through another application and do the whole process again and go through underwriters again for a smaller mortgage. If this is the case, we will lose our buyers and our new property. Please advise.
Any advice most welcome.
