guardian1821 - critical illness

Hello all! My wife and I have had Vitality policies for quite some years, and rather the top them up due to a change in circumstances we are looking to use another provider.  I have spoken to my financial adviser who suggested a Zurich policy, but a specialist insurer suggested Guardian.  Both seem good, however Guardian covers cancers in a more comprehensive way on the face of it - does anyone have any experiences of Guardian as a provider?

thank you

If they suggested an insurer then they themselves are not an insurer but a broker, advisor or some other form of intermediary.

Guardian's product is 5* rated, Zurich have more than one product and so are 4-5* rated depending on exactly which one it is. Others here will have more first hand experience and in depth knowledge of the products but personally I would hope you'd have a better understanding of who you are buying from and any whole of market advisor/broker should be able to assess both products for you and explain which they recommend and why... should this prove to be erroneous you then have the potential of a PI claim against the advisor rather than a random forum member.

Thank you, great comments and yes they are a broker. Guardian was the advise, for various reasons, but the concern I had was it’s not a brand I have experience of.

There'll not be much claims experience with Guardian as they are a new provider who only came to the market a couple of years ago.  They do have a quality critical illness product though.

When I saw the name Guardian, I immediately thought the legacy company called Guardian who were quite a big player in their day.   I was surprised a new insurance company has been allowed to set up using a historic brand.  However, it turns out it is the historic brand relaunched by Scottish Friendly.

So, in respect of: does anyone have any experiences of Guardian as a provider?
I think you need to forget about experiences as this is 2018 company with a historic brand name but none of the legacy policies set up under Guardian of the past have anything to do with this 2018 relaunch.
