    Google can be one of the most frustrating companies to deal with for support, especially online and via their forum.

    However I dealt with them once by phone, and they were weirdly impressive. Sorry don't have a suitable number to call but if you find one it's worth trying to call them. You could try asking here https://support.google.com/mail/community?hl=en-GB  (you'll probably need to setup another google account)

    Thanks for all the advice folks, just wanted to report that after randomly trying to log-in again today, it worked!!! It logged me in and the first thing i have done is set up proper up to date recovery details to ensure this can't happen again.
    The warnings were on my email about unusual activity and i confirmed it was me so hopefully it is all over but definitely a lesson learned for me to keep things updated.
