I want to shake myself! GgggggggggrrrrrrrrrWhen I registered online for the vaccine today (no idea why, think it's to confirm) I thought I'd explore the option of having it at the nearest place to here. Saw appointments and clicked 'select' - then realised that there was no option to go back or unselect. So now my appointment is on Saturday 13th. I'm so angry with myself and angry with the stupid website which doesn't have the 'back' button. I immediately phoned the helpline but the chap couldn't retrieve the appointment for today. In my defence I was a bit distracted by a mini crisis with DM and was thinking about it, in my prosecution I was just being stupid.I shall restore my equilibrium with a slice of homemade cake and a cup of coffee.
I've made a pot of cauliflower, garlic and tumeric soup (Nigella) which is just cooling down, she's right when she says that the tumeric seems to stop the horrible smell of cooking cauliflower.

Oh dear Gers, what a shame. It does seem rather badly written that you can't go back.
Ruby, if you're reading I hope you're managing to get some sleep now.
Yesterday passed slowly. I made the tomato curry which was a bit of a faff as I knew it would be. Everyone enjoyed it except me, the flavour was fine but I have a thing about cooked tomato skins and there were too many to pick out. I also decided to make paratha bread and mushroom puloa rice and it was quite stressful getting the bread done. Don't think I'll be repeating that in a hurry.
We've got an outing today. Poor Crystal has been signed off by the Dr and asked if we had a particular book series, which we do so we are taking them over and her favourite cherry cake. We shall leave them in the porch and maybe have a very distanced conversation.11 -
Snoozer, thanks. On reflection it’s probably for the best as I was stressing about going to the Louisa Jordan, not only the journey but I’d been told of people having to queue for hours outside. Today it’s both freezing cold and raining. Still wish I hadn’t done it as I really want the vaccine. Que sera as Doris Day said.
I too hate tomato skins in hot food and faff around with boiling water getting the skins off first. It’s fiddly but easy.11 -
Afternoon all! It's sunny and dry, I am amazed! So we didn't have chicken yesterday, I forgot I had two lasagnes made by my fair sisters hands in the fridge defrosting so we had them. Today we're going to have homemade pizzas, I'm going to try the yoghurt/flour pizza base and I've taken some cooking mozarella out of the freezer. We have anchovies [I like] salami [he likes] and olives, artichokes, capers etc to chuck on the top. I'm making my list to take to the butchers, trouble is, every cookery programme brings up a new thing I hadn't thought of. Going to have to heavily edit my list. Gers, I use the Mary Berry recipe too, it's so much easier than anything else and it got voted best banana bread at OH film nights with his friends [when they were allowed ot of course] And the stand mixer I bought myself has a recall notice on it, so I'll have to wait and see what's happening with that.Sorry about your appointment Gers, that'sa very odd thing to make your website do, it should only be changed after confirmation not at the start. Snoozer, probably why I don't do big tomato dishes, I'm nota fan of cooked skin although raw seems to be fine. Sounds lovely though! Scarlet, thanks for letting me off the hook
Rosy, hope you're continuing to improve, take it easy...Nanny, we have the meter in the most awkward place to get to under the stairs too. It's a reall faff to get to it. Maddie, yeah, I get ridiculously excited about things like zoom meeings, because they're a choice of course and it feels like people are talking directly to you...
TA, how lucky for your friend. I was listening in to conversations while I was waiting in line to hear that 40 people hadn't turned up. I don't know if that was a true number or not but I too am confused when people book appointments and then don't go. I don't know whether I approach appointments as something almost sacred in that I have to go because otherwise I'm letting someone down or not...Ruby, thinking of you and your family. Anyway, enough rambling, take care everyone, stay frosty but not in temperature...

Its a shame that they couldn't have given you the vaccine when your mum had hers after all you are her carer.
I hate tomato skins too in fact if Im honest the only way I can eat tomato is puree or ketchupI love italian food but only the dishes without tons of tinned tomato
Limits me to pizza or carbonara really

Nelski said:Its a shame that they couldn't have given you the vaccine when your mum had hers after all you are her carer.I aked that question - computer said 'no'.Banana bread helped, I realised that I was stressing about going there not about having the jag. I'm calmer now.A food combination I can't eat is cheese and eggs together, the thought of a cheese omelette makes me want to gag, yet one of my favourites is roasted cheese. It's about texture I think.

I don't like most cheese because of the texture mainly, fine with cheese on toast etc. There's nowt so queer as folk as mum used to say.
Oh and Laura made pizza for Esben using yoghurt and flour bases and they were lovely.

Hi everyone . It's been a long time. Hugs to everyone who needs them.
A bit dull here today - with bits of sunshine here and there.
Am plodding through my inbox in the back bedroom, while DH does the same downstairs, punctuated by inspections from the Feline Dictator. All in all, it's ok, apart from when we have an internet blip.
I'm waiting to hear when Mum will get her vaccination (she's over 70, but is housebound and they haven't got round to the non-mobile oldies in Cumbria yet). It's not that I can do much from the other end of the country, but I intend to go up and help Dad as soon as we're allowed to travel.
Hope you're having your best possible day.Surviving the ups and downs of life with DH

Afternoon folks. What a shame about the vaccine trauma GERS. But if the new appointment is at a place more convenient for you then maybe worth the short wait.
Isn't it strange how all our taste preferences differ. I can happily eat cheese in any form any way any how! And tomatoes in their skins I can eat whether raw or cooked. But my pet hate is baked beans! When i hear someone saying they are having beans with mashed potato, eggs, fish or chicken I go green!! No, just no! I have nothing against beans on toast or maybe with sausage and chips but with anything else absolutely not!
I've just been making my favourite ginger biscuits. The 40 year old Be-Ro book recipe is my go to biscuit when I want something comforting or simply need cheering up. The trouble is once made I can't stop eating them one after the other.
Take care folks x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"8
