Credit help - Getting extremely frustrated!

Hi all. I have a few issues which I cannot seem to work out and I can't seem to find any expert help out there who can advise me...
Last July I applied and got accepted for a Barclays credit card. I think my issues stem from here. Basically, I opened and closed the account before I even sent off the signed agreement. For some reason they still sent me the card and opened the account. I closed it so quickly (regrettably now), because their service was absurdly bad. I couldn't get hold of customer service for hours on end even after going into a branch. Anyway, so about 2/3 months after this - I applied for Natwest credit card. I have been with Natwest since I was 16 in 2009 so I thought it would be ok but they declined me and my credit rating took a hit.
I am a surveyor on 28,000 per annum, no missed payments and all credit scores from experian, transunion and equifax give me either a good or excellent. I pay my rent, utility bills, insurance and phone every month on time. I am in the process of buying a house with my partner and I want to make sure we will get the mortgage. I have a student loan of which I pay back every month automatically. The other thing is that I recently moved address and apparently didn't change my electoral roll, which I have now done and I hope it helps me.
What concerns me is, as a test I use the MSE credit card checker, of which only requires basic info about me and they all say INELLIGBLE FOR THIS CARD. It is so frustrating. I have nothing on my credit reports to suggest there is some reason I fail. Only weird thing is on transunion it has a green circle and some have letters "UC" in but I read and this shouldn't be an issue.

Does anyone have any advice for me? I have tried everything, I can't even build a history because they won't give me a credit builder card. Is it because I applied for 2 credit cards in quick sucession? The natwest one was back in October so why would a random conmparison website tell me I have no chance of getting even a 39 percent interest credit card? What chance have I got at getting my mortgage?

Sorry for the long post.

Your credit rating despite being good or excellant is neither here nor there, what matters is your history, so theres nothing on your history or its limited, is that right ?
Should give it a month for any change to be noticed.

So if I have no history, what do I do? What's going to change in a month? Genuine questions. Thanks for your reply.
