Hi Guys and Gals
Looking for your thoughts on my situation re PPI.
Looking for your thoughts on my situation re PPI.
I couldn’t remember any credit card/loan details, so I employed Allay to help me with this before the deadline for claims.
They discovered a PPI linked to a Barclaycard and pursued this for me, resulting in Barclaycard denying a valid claim.
Allay asked if I would like to pursue through the Ombudsman - I said yes, and that’s where I took over.
After many months of emails and phone calls between myself, the Ombudsman and Barclaycard (no involvement at all from Allay) I have reached an agreement with Barclaycard. They sent me an initial cheque which I haven’t banked as discussions were ongoing.
I have received a further offer, and on the advice of the Ombudsman I am planning to accept it.

My question is: Allay have sent me an invoice for the initial cheque, for their commission at 24%.
I know they initiated the claim for me, but as they have done nothing since it was referred to the Ombudsman, do I really have to pay them this 24%? And another 24% on the next cheque?
I’ve looked at their terms and conditions and it’s a bit vague in this area.
Look forward to hearing from you

CMCs don't do anything other than give your name and address to the bank/provider and say you want them to investigate the sale of PPI. Some didn't even send letters in. They just added your name and address to a spreadsheet and emailed it in to the banks. A couple of minutes work but that is what you agreed to.I’ve looked at their terms and conditions and it’s a bit vague in this area. There won't be any vagueness.. You owe them the money.

CMCOBS is quite clear that the CMC must obtain the customer's consent for them to take the complaint to the Ombudsman.0 -
So, instead of 2 minutes, are we saying its more like 5-10 minutes work?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
