Travel insurance - coronavirus cover shown on web site but not in policy document

I've been looking at a Coverwise single trip policy for September 2021. Their web site has a link on the home page to their coronavirus cover (through AXA), which includes cancellation due to having to isolate. None of the travel insurers I have used before include this, just cover for a positive test.
When viewing the three cover levels offered the policy documents can be viewed, but none of them include anything about coronavirus or covid-19.
I'm a bit uncomfortable with a policy document which doesn't include all the cover, has anyone has experience of this? Their coronavirus web page was last updated 24/07/2020.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Can you not contact them and ask?
  • I did call them, the person I spoke to said they hadn't had a chance to update the policy documents yet. My concern is whether a web page, which can change, is as reliable as the policy document issued when you buy the insurance.

Actual policy documents are what really matter. Web pages will always lag events. Policy terms can change at any time.

My advice is to avoid Coverwise. I had a policy with them and got an email saying any existing bookings that couldn't go ahead due to Coronavirus or Travel restrictions would be covered.

However when I tried to claim Coverwise told me I had to claim through AXA. AXA told me that I wasn't covered and when I provided the email I was sent from Coverwise they told me they weren't responsible for communication Coverwise sent out. When I spoke to Coverwise they told me to contact AXA in Redhill to escalate but AXA didn't want to know.
Maybe you might have a better experience than me but I would steer clear because my experience is AXA will stick rigidly to the policy documents so if they don't mention it, I would assume it's not covered.
  • Thanks for the advice, and sorry you had trouble with them.
I've been through the MSE list of travel insurers offering coronavirus cover and found four who also cover having to isolate, and one even mentions cover if the NHS app says you need to isolate.

Coverwise I won't be using again my multi-travel premium last year was £42 and I never went anywhere and forgot to claim a refund. The renewal email came through and the premium had shot up to £128.00 and I only realised when I saw it on my banking app as they had put my debit card on annual renewal. I have cancelled the policy as it was within the 14 day cooling off period.
