rheinlands.uk

i didnt know where to post this , but here goes, my wife ordered 3 pair of boot from rheinlands.uk, the final bill came to £96 but they took £117, we tried to cancel as per their terms and conditions which state ....

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation of order is allowed on or before 11:00pm (PDT, -7 GMT) on the same day. After that time, cancellation will no longer be entertained. You may contact us via support@relatingus.com to request for cancellation.

We tried to cancel 30 mins after the order via email which was well before 2300 PDT initially we got sorry were not in email, But then they said the order had been dispatched. We have tried to put in dispute with paypal but they say nothing untoward has happened.

My other worry is these boots are going to come from China if at all or somewhere despite a .uk web address, I've tried contacting via Facebook they've blocked me, they have also now blocked my emails as they now keep bouncing back, if paypal wont do anything should my credit card company

The boots will definitely come from China - they state that on their site.

The pricing discrepancy may come about because they say that although they show local prices, checkout prices are then converted to USD, which means you're going to pay exchange fees. I'm not an expert on the validity of that approach.

a uk web address does not indicate a UK company, only that they have paid for a uk domain name, perfectly legal and many companies buy domain names for each country they market in. A UK company would show a UK address, this one does not and mentions it is governed by the laws of New Jersey
Domain is a little over 6 months old
reviews are terrible, many people with the same issue https://www.trustpilot.com/review/rheinlands.uk
Many Facebook adverts pop up, fleece a load of people and disappear again...extra care required.

  • I have the same problem - although only one pair of boots. PayPal advises the additional charge is in respect of the import duty that they would have to pay. This charge was not advised until after the transaction had been completed. I’ve not sure of the legality of this. Three different company names have appeared on various documents. I have messaged Facebook re: the scam advert, but no reply. Started a dispute resolution procedure with PayPal, but not hopeful. They have insisted I email the vendor, but have received a robot generated response. Haven’t tried the credit card company yet. Research on the web indicates this type of scam is now widespread and increasing rapidly. Unfortunately, the internet giants are making it far too easy and don’t seem very interested in doing something about it.

If you've ordered something from China, you would be liable to VATand import duty when the goods got here, and the courier would contact you for payment

What has changed is that our HMRC has changed things so now the vendor or online platform has to charge these and pay HMRC, for goods up to £135 value. Above that amount things continue as before.

If you check their T/C it will be clear that you have to pay any import duties.

Your best hope is the goods do not turn up (hope you have not cancelled) and can dispute for non receipt of goods.

Facebook will not respond on these matters. I gave up reporting these as scams. As all you get is a std reply.

This company is a scam, they take 10 orders, give everyone the same tracking number and only deliver 1 parcel , this has come from post office after our tracking number was delivered miles away, pay pal investigating
