Has anyone completed or gone through the HSBC safeguard process?

Has anyone completed gone through the HSBC safeguard process?

I received a text asking me to update my details by logging into my credit card account. (I don't have an other accounts with them). I went online and there was a 5 page questionnaire to complete, asking to confirm name, address, DOB, employer details and income.

I had no objection to filling it out until I read a number of posts from other HSBC customers filling out this questionaire who were then told to take their passport to a branch for verification. Then later they were subjected to an interview with lots of questions about spending habits ... etc. I am happy to give the details they have asked for, but not if that leads into further questions and ongoing hassle.

Can anyone confirm what the process is/was, what the steps were and what the final outcome was.
And did your account remain open ... or was it closed by HSBC?
