Flight refund

Ockerby said:I’m sure this a question that has been asked before but I’m a newbie.
In January 2020 booked flights via Gotogate with Royal Air Maroc to go to and from Gambia to meet a friend who was out there. Due to fly on the 17th March and come back on the 30th March. Obviously the flights were cancelled due to Covid 19.
I tried to get a refund from Royal Air Maroc who after 7 months said as I wanted a refund I should contact Gotogate, I have just had an e-mail from Gotogate who advise me because of the Airlines rules they cannot give e a refund.
In between my holiday insurer and my credit card company have both said they cannot help. The amount paid is over £400 which for a retired person as myself is a lot of money.
Can anyone offer any advice as to how to make Gotogate pay me my money for the flights I booked but then were cancelled because of Covid.
I am at my wits end and has certainly put me off booking any holiday.
Thanks for listening and any help would be gratefully accepted.
Are you sure the flights were actually cancelled 17 March 2020, or was it a case that you decided it was not prudent to travel?
Go To Gate won’t have your money unless RAM refunded them. RAM was slow to make refunds on cancelled flights early on in the pandemic. They may have also converted the ticket into a credit rather than a refund. That would be held by RAM. From your post it does suggest a credit has been issued. Perhaps you can clarify.
I think first steps are to establish if the flights were actually cancelled and also if RAM have issued a credit or refund on the ticket.
If you decided not to fly and RAM offered the option of a travel waiver/credit, you have no automatic right to now convert this to a cash refund.
With respect you have left this rather late to sort and escalate.0 -
Royal Air Maroc did offer a voucher but as the trip was a one off I declined. Then 2 months after that they said contact Gotogate.

Did the flight depart on the 17th March? Little reason to suspect it didn't.Ockerby said:Royal Air Maroc did offer a voucher but as the trip was a one off I declined. Then 2 months after that they said contact Gotogate.0
