Argos Refund

I wonder if someone could give me some advice. I bought an item from Argos on 26th December which was delivered to my home. Product cost 289.99. I’d saved to buy this for my husband but realised on giving it to him it was completely the wrong thing! I returned the item to store on the 4th January as following instructions on the website. The lady took the item and gave me a printed copy that said PayPal refund form and that the money would be refunded. I hasn’t received the money so started to contact Argos:

Thursday 21st: spoke to a young girl and all I managed to get was someone will phone me back within 3-5 days.
Tuesday 26th: phoned and spoke to a gentleman who said finance department would call me within the 3-5 days but basically it’s my own fault as I returned the item to store and didn’t get it collected from my house. Website states small items ordered online can be returned to store?!
Five days are up so phoned again on Thursday 28th. Megan said there was a note on the system saying that if I phoned again (yet they were calling me) they couldn’t process anything as didn’t know which store it had been returned to. I’d told them this every time I phoned. I told her which store I had returned it to and stayed on the line for 15 minutes while she phoned said store. The outcome.. yes they had had a return of a revitive arthritis knee but hadn’t taken a name? Yet the woman at store had my order number, phone number and email address? Was then told a PayPal refund could take up to thirty days.
Thirty days are up, still no refund. I’m on furlough and my husband is not working due to the pandemic. I could really use the money but have no idea what to do now?

Take it up with PayPal for non receipt of refund as goods returned.Life in the slow lane2

The OP will not win a returns case on Paypal as they don't have a proof of delivery viewable online.
OP you need to go back to Argos and get this sorted out.0 -
I didn't think Argos accepted PayPal but apparently it does. It does state on the website that refunds to PayPal can take up to 30 days which would 3rd Feb...tomorrow0

Apologies, I meant to say PayPal wasn’t very helpful! For the reason ‘theonlywayisup’ stated. I will be phoning Argos again today!0
