Hi all
My 21 year old daughter has submitted her application to train as a nurse up here in "bonnie" Scotland.
She currently:
- Works full time (earns 20k).
- Lives alone in her own house.
- Has a mortgage (circa £340 per month) plus all the usual household costs.
- Has her own car (owned outright).
- No debt.
- has around 4k in savings.
If successful she plans to stay in her own home during her training (as much as possible - potentially she may have secondments away from home).
As she wont be able to continue with her current job I'm just wondering what financial support she might be entitled to while training?
Obviously the bank of mum & dad is also likely to take a hit but just trying to plan ahead & figure out how much my Drambuie fund is likely to be affected :-)

Has she looked at SAAS to see if the bursary is still offered?
Aside from than my friends took on bank shifts as a carer to get extra money.
As she has her own home, can she take a lodger on, assuming it's got 2 bedrooms of course.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Yep we will be looking into what bursary she might be able to get. I've also found that she will get a reduction on her council tax.
She does have a 2 bedroom house - shes not keen to get a lodger but that option is obviously there & may have to be looked at closer.
I was just wondering if there was anyone in a similar position who might be able to give a heads up as to what else might be available to her.Was it really "everybody" that was Kung Fu fighting ???0
