Who's "they"?pbartlett said:Is it not more likely that they would just put a CIFAS marker on her, especially since there appears to be no attempt to defraud the money with no intention of paying it back?
The bank may put a marker on both, one for committing identity fraud and the other for being the victim of identity fraud (or at least that was the process back in the day)
The Police/CPS would decide about any action to be taken on the criminal side.0 -
Presumably they wrote to him at his address, if someone living at the address is intercepting the mail then it's not something the creditors can do much about. A husband paying for his wife's orders wouldn't be unexpected.Ubique said:He's only just found out that 2 accounts exist in his name only. Is there a responsibility by the creditors to show due diligence and actually check who's name the account is in...?

ex partner. It's unlikely you would have your partner prosecuted while maintaining a relationship with them.Deleted_User said:
Yes if they want the debt to go away from their own account. Not a chance in hell they will be able to "play" any card - either report for fraud or pay the debt. Plenty of spouses are involved in criminal proceedings against their partner.
She might be using shopping as a way of dealing with stress of lockdown or buying things that he also gets the benefit from. I would certainly be sitting down and asking why the f you did it without telling me.
Being in a committed relationship means you should be sharing when you do something the other person needs to know about.

Don't be a pedant, the point is perfectly valid and plenty of couples move on and stay together after various problems whether it's cheating or hiding debts or whatever. Not a prosecution but this woman even lied to her partner about their house sale and gambled all the money away and they are back together, phillw said:
