Refund to old card number

A while back I paid a holiday deposit. The card I used to pay has since gone out of date and been replaced. The company is now offering a refund. Do they need my latest card details or can they refund using the out-of-date card number that they already have?

It should find its way to you, I would have thought the card co will have a record of the old number and what the new one is and send the money to you.

I've had returns to old card numbers and they've landed in the same account, ultimately they'll be reversing the original transaction and it'll show on your statement.

Assuming you are just talking about a new card on the same account then using the old card number is fine and it will just payoff whatever balance is on the account.

If you've closed your old account and opened up a new account with the same bank or another one then its a touch more complicated but normally contacting the issuer and telling them of the situation a week or so after the refund has been processed normally results in them finding the money and returning it to you.
