Simplicity Energy has ceased trading
On the same day as they take DDs, it appears that Simplicity have ceased trading. I tried to log in to my account this morning but couldn't. Tried to reset my password but the system told me the account didn't exist. I called them as I wanted to discuss my recent smart meter install but they just said their systems were down at the time so to call back later. Then, in the afternoon I got an email from British Gas Evolve saying they were taking control of the supply. Thought I'd start a thread here to discuss and for any pointers.

But DON'T switch right now. It's best to wait until the new firm has been in contact and confirmed that the transfer is complete, and your new account has been fully set up.
- Filled out the SP details form as soon as it was on their website along with final readings (Oct some time)
- 30th Nov - Finally got an ending bill from Tonik administrators in Scottish Power only finally set up my new account (although they managed to cancel the direct debit details I provided)
- 3rd Dec - Got an email from SP saying "we're still processing things". The only email received up to today.
- 13th Jan, finally got the catchup bill from SP by post, still nothing by email.
3 months was a long time on an unknown tariff. Mean time, a friend down the road who was also with tonik did a switch to octopus the day tonik's demise was announced, and apart from a wait for their credit to be repaid, couldn't have been happier...?Peter

I realise this may be the wrong thing to do but I cancelled the DD as soon as I realised what was happening. I then called the bank to see if I could stop the DD that went out today. My reasoning is that, although I may still owe them money, I'd rather that was the case than being due compensation which I won't see for a long time. The agent told me that as I'd cancelled the DD that money wouldn't go out and would return to my account. Doesn't sound right from what I understood of DDs, can anyone confirm?0

Apologies for creating a duplicate thread, I did a search on the first page of threads to check there weren't any others but it must have dropped down to page 2. Admin, feel free to delete/merge.0
