getting my elec meter checked?

Options
Can anyone advise me if it is possible to get my electricity meter checked and if so how I go about it. I recently moved in to a 1 bedroom flat which has economy 7 heating and the bills seem extremely high especially when my flat isnt occupied during the day either

Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forum.

You can apply to your electricity company to get the meters checked. However if no fault is found you will have to pay for the check - it seems £60 is the going rate.

It is pertinent to point out that it is extremely rare for an electricity meter to be faulty.

Are you sure that you are operating your storage heaters correctly?

The downside of storage heaters is they can lose(leak) heat during the day.

What do you call extremely high?(in kWh)

Worth also noting that Suppliers will take you through a process before they even suggest doing a Standard Load Test (SLT) as they are costly and there is also a finite supply of qualified engineers with a Meter Operator so they tend to set limits on how many a month a Supplier should be requesting.

They can also install a Check Meter which measures the speed as well. However, this is done less thesedays.

You need to consider your energy efficiency first which is what your Supplier should tell you.

So, a bit more info is needed at this stage for anyone to help you as Cardew pointed out.

If you are new to E7 it's more likely something you need to do at this stage.
