The flat I mentioned living in earlier didn’t have an obvious way to control the immersion heater- we ended up asking a neighbour who showed us where the hidden away panel was. Ask your neighbours, see if anyone knows how to work them. I can only see not being able to control it if the flat is old, roughly how old is the flat?1

The room heaters aren't storage heaters so would only be able to benefit from cheaper water heatingAssuming you are responsible for utility bills (not the landlord) how can you not know who the suppier is and what product you have? It's on your bill. And since this is a moneysaving site, and you are worried about utility costs, one obvious course of action is to shop around for a cheaper supplier - which would also involve knowing about E7.......
I am repsonsible for the bills but I dont have my first bill because I only just moved in... "Ive just moved into a flat where..."Sorry - forgot that! But then how do you know "the daily costs are exceeding £7/day at times." ?Presumably calculated from he meter, so you can see if there are 1 or 2 readings. All day single rate or dayrate and cheap rate.Or is there one these Smart Meters? If that doesn't show he same info just shows how pointless they are!

I would think its probably 15 years old so the wiring is pretty new. In fact its not so much an immrsion heater as a boiler but it has a couple of heated elements so pretty much the same thing.
