O/S Daily Monday 1 February 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Ruby - so sorry to hear your sad news, but hope you all are able to find some comfort in knowing from his phone call that your brother was at last comfortable and not in pain, thinking of you all, much love x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, air is cool, but it's not raining at the moment.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and now enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, eaten and enjoyed - some LO's so that will become another meal. Tonight we'll be having chicken and mushroom pie, LO mash, peas/veg and gravy.
We were chilled yesterday afternoon. I have a few jobs I want to get done today so will try to get those done or at least started.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc, enjoy your day off. February is always a month of promises and light coming back into our lives.Yesterday I spent a lot of time doing techie things getting my laptop ready for its service and upgrade. I'll be using DM's laptop which has not been opened since I bought it late in 2019 so it needed hours of updating, then I moved all my documents onto it before backing up my machine and deleting stuff off it. Not difficult to do but just slow processes. This morning I've got an appointment with the dental hygienist first thing. On the way I have the latest finding of seven old bags of flour to take to the tip. After that I'll go to laptop shop and I've a couple of items to collect from both Waitrose and Marks. Finally, the window cleaner is coming this afternoon. Everything comes together after weeks of nothing. There's a crunchy topping on my car which will need scrapped off. I'll take a bottle of water down to splash on the windscreen, it should melt the ice a bit, enough to make scrapping easier at least. My thoughts are with Ruby still. Also Rosy, just take things easy as you recover. Happy Monday to all.13

Good morning, and thanks NMLC for starting. It's bitterly cold here, with another light fall of snow, it looks really slippery..We didn't go out yesterday as we'd planned to do, there were a few jobs to do at home, so we stayed in. The big cupboard on the landing was given a good tidy, and there's a couple of things can go to the tip when DH next goes so it looks better for now.I was looking at ready made curtains last night for the landing window and saw one or two possibles but they were out of stock, though I have seen some nice curtain fabric that I liked, so I might have to buckle down and make them myself, heaven knows I have plenty of time. The curtains that are up look bland somehow, if curtains can look bland.Today I'll continue to ponder about curtains, and there's the usual jobs to do, so that's it from me.Thinking of Ruby and her family, and others who are not well or struggling with life.Take care folks.12

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The new month hasn't brought a change in the weather, it's still blummin' freezing with a thick frost everywhere.
Another day of same old same old, going nowhere, seeing no-one. After a w/e of sloth I must get off my arris today and tackle some jobs. The windows are obviously not going to clean themselves. No leftovers today after leaving a fish pie out for lunch yesterday in case the vaccine had clobbered me with side effects. It hadn't but sadly the fish pie wasn't enjoyed and reminded me why I don't make a habit of buying ready meals!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. ROSY I hope you are soon feeling a bit better. As always RUBY and MARIE are in my thoughts. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Morning All
Woohoo, February at last. January seems to have three months worth of days in!
Very, very cold this morning, there's a heavy frost and a wind that would cut you in two. I too will have to scrape the car, the windscreen will take some clearing.
Hope you're feeling better Rosy, look after yourself.
Thinking of those with troubles and worries, especially Ruby.
Thinking of you MM.
Walked to the PO yesterday, I thought my head was going to freeze, really must take a hat out although I do hate wearing them.
I am in the process of changing gas and electricity supplier and of course I picked one of those that has just gone bust. I need to take a meter reading but of course can't find the key to the outside box, the company I was with used the smart meter so I haven't had to go into the box for a couple of years. Ended up sorting through various drawers trying to find it, no key but lots of 'things' thrown out and tidied up. Key ordered now so should be able to take a reading this week.
Exciting day today, I'm off to work and I'm really looking forward to it, Monday morning or not!
Take care. XX13 -

Morning everyone
I have to go to the big city today for a bone density scan. It will be a long day as it takes almost an hour on the train then half an hour on the bus as the hospital is a bit out of the way. Hopefully everywhere will be quiet but I'll have my mask on anyways.
I have leftover chicken casserole from last night ready to heat up for a nice easy tea.
Got some ironing and a few other jobs to do this morning before I go
Hope you all have a good day13 -
Morning all! Brrrr! OH kept the fire in last night thank god, it's so cold! We've had excitement in our lives the last two nights. Big stray moggie [ head like a grapefruit big] has been coming round for two nights now, yowling itself silly trying to get into the house. Very friendly thing, but very bloody noisy. Have put up a lost and found and someone is dropping off a scanner later on to see if it is chipped. That's if it comes back again tonight. I know it's a he or she but the last time I thought a stray cat was a he, it turned just to be an enormous female part Forest cat. This one, no idea, hence, it...He acts like she did though in that, fatty wants to fight it, but just jets looked at like 'What are you going on about?' and there are no reciprocal fighty moves. Saturdays zoom thing was very interesting, five half hour talks on various apsects of renovation and then a Q&A. I'm getting to like this format. It feels like you're having some interaction even if the people are just talking at you. There are some free ones available this month [ oh how lovely to say its a different month! January lasted years!] so I'll give them a swizz to see what I fancy.Anyway, nothing else today, keep the fire burning, do some jigsaw, make food...Ruby, hugs, hope you're all coping. Rosy, wow, hope you are indeed coming out out of it and feeling better. dp1,hope you found more washable paints for your unicorn gd
hope your bone scan is good. WL, your browser settings may be set to clear cookies or cache or both after so long. Morning ladies,
Just wanted to pop in and say thank you again for all the lovely wishes and thoughts, life is strange and horrid atm, Monna's decription of looking the wrong way down a kalidescope is spot on !! Got to phone the hosp berevement team to see if they can help with the funeral at all (thanks for the link Gers xx) We are all a bit like zombies atm none of us are sleeping, its the fact he was taken so quickly and we did not have chance to say goodbyes and I love you's.
One thing that this has made me think of is our funerals and as soon as I am up to it I am going to get them pre paid or do a monthly payment thing, I would hate for my dd to have to struggle to bury us.
Rosy I hope you feel better soon xx
Love to you all xxx13 -
Morning all.
Still gloomy and depressing here. Still, isn't that what February is for? Might as well go to ground and enjoy it.
Plans for today are fluid. I may make some sausagemeat pasties. I may write a long overdue letter to an old friend. I may have a good tidy up in the mis-named study. I may get stuck into some knitting. I may spend all day deciding which of these worthy activities, if any, will get done.
In the meantime.......coffee.
Sending love and light to Ruby, Marie and anyone else who needs it.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning
Gorgeous day here but bloomin cold
Weekly washing loads done so just the kitchen to sort then I can return to sloth mode.
Binge watched Its a Sin last night I had a good friend who went through it and I remember the fear we all felt for him. Fortunately he survived and now lives a normal life. Its well worth a watch
Thoughts with Captain Tom today I know at his age he is very vulnerable but he is such a legend so hopefully can get through this
Ruby ...such a tough time for you all my heart goes out to you. I agree that the pre paid funeral plans are a good idea. Mum and Dad sorted theirs out years ago and when dad died it made everything a little easier as he had also stated his wishes so at that terrible time I wasn't faffing with details.
Rosy Hope you are resting and recovering well from this evil virus. Remember there are potentially long term effects too so take it easy and no rushing back to normal
Take care everyone we're on the final strait x13
