Either don't use the cheques, destroy them, or send them back. I don't see how this is any hardship for you. If they do get intercepted in the post and used fraudulently they wouldn't have your signature on them so it would be a simple case of phoning them up and reporting a fraudulent transaction, same as if any other cheque book was stolen.0

I agree PhilUK, I've got so fed up of receiving them every month, along with reminders during the month that I should be using them, that I've torn up the last lot and sent them back in the prepaid envelope they provided. Along with a letter explaining that I think it very irresponsible of them to send them out unsolicited, and that I do not appreciate the unnecessary risk of fraud.
Of course normal current account chequebooks are sent out in the post, but this happens less than once a year so greatly reduces the chance of interception. When credit card companies send them out monthly there's a much higher risk of fraud and all the hassle that would entail in trying to get things sorted.0 -

but why do we have to go through this hassle in the first place?0 -
A couple of years ago, the precise thing you are concerned about happened to me. Some unrequested CC cheques from MBNA were stolen in the post. The first I knew about it was in a letter saying "we can't pay the cheque you wrote out for £7,500 because it takes you over your limit".
Now, (a) I hadn't written out a cheque for £7,500, and (b) if I had, it would not have taken me over my limit. It turns out the fraudster had already passed two cheques already, for nearly £13,000 in total (both signed nothing like my real signature).
Of course it was all refunded - relatively simply in fact, compared to the other fraud I had where a card was stolen in the post and used for hundreds of small transactions. But I'd still rather it hadn't happened, and I'm sure MBNA feel the same. I asked them to stop sending me the damned things, for their protection as much as mine, and they have.0
