Bulk wood pellet litter - worth it?

We currently use this from Pets At Home but it's gone up a little lately.

Is there anywhere better to buy it from?

  • B&M do the same sized bag for £5.99. Home Bargain also do reasonably priced bags.
  • I can't get my head around how big 30 litres is.

I use wood pellets as horse bedding, it's £3.70ish per 15kg bag (about the size of a pillow and you struggle to lift it) bought in bulk but if you can find a horse feed shop near you you should be able to get it singularly eg

Wood pellets are actually intended for biomass boilers, you'll get it even cheaper if you can find fuel sales near you. However the VAT will be reduced because its for fuel, you really should declare the extra 30p somehow.

  • Probably the biggest competition prize I have ever won was a year's supply of wood pellet cat litter.  This was bulk delivered in 10 large sacks which only just fitted into the garage (leaving room for the car).

Fussy madam hated it.  Luckily, our local Blue Cross were happy to collect the lot!
