return multiple old passports in one envelope for renewal ?

Hi, we are going through the renewal process for two passports...
When we return the old passports, can we put both in the same (outer) envelope ? The return address includes a PEX line which is obviously the application number.
Obviously we'd need to highlight which passport is for which application (such as putting each in a separate inner envelope). Would we just omit the PEX line on the address on the outer envelope, or put both PEX numbers on ?
thanks

Put both the PEX numbers on the outside.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. If you are sending them to the same office, put them in separate envelopes with the relevant reference number on the front of the envelope then put both of them in a strong envelope. It makes no difference if you put the numbers on the outer envelope as long as they are on the internal one.psychic_teabag said:Hi, we are going through the renewal process for two passports...When we return the old passports, can we put both in the same (outer) envelope ? As per smudge56 & send special delivery so can be tracked.0

Recorded delivery is sufficient.AFAIK the passport office will want the top right corner of each expired passport cut off at 45 degrees.0

Do NOT cut the corner of the passport - the passport office will do that before returning it to you. If you send it in cut - it is automatically treated as a damaged passport and can hold up the application process.NoodleDoodleMan said:Recorded delivery is sufficient.AFAIK the passport office will want the top right corner of each expired passport cut off at 45 degrees.1 -
"Do NOT cut the corner of the passport - the passport office will do that before returning it to you."That was what the passport people told me to do when I had to surrender my late father's passport.0

Noodle that was because he was obviously not going to renew it.NoodleDoodleMan said:"Do NOT cut the corner of the passport - the passport office will do that before returning it to you."That was what the passport people told me to do when I had to surrender my late father's passport.1 -
You can return 2 passports in one envelope as per previous comments HOWEVER..be aware that The Passport Office now uses TWO different return addresses. My wife and I today renewed on line and found my old PP was back to Three Cherry Trees Lane, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2 7HQ and my wife's was to Long Croft Road, Corby, Northamptonshire, NN18 8UA . So on top of the £88.50 we pay another £5.10 in postage plus envelopes. This country is an absolute disgrace.PS. You'll also find two PP's will make it a large envelope rather than a standard letter.

It really doesn’t matter what office you send them to, so sending them both to the same place saves on postage. They get scanned on regardless of where they are sent.ConsumerWarrior said:You can return 2 passports in one envelope as per previous comments HOWEVER..be aware that The Passport Office now uses TWO different return addresses.
