Stocks and Shares Account App

I have my pension set aside but recently had a £5k tax rebate so I am thinking of opening my own personal shares account.
This is new to me so I need relative simplicity.
Is there an App suitable for Android/Chrome which will let me open an account and then buy/sell shares?

It is normally recommended to invest in globally diversified funds before you consider individual shares. Some people do very well, and some people just pretend to do very well on social media. Trading212 and Freetrade are both trading apps for the UK. There is a trend at the moment that has made trading into a sort of game, and many people seem to be treating it like gambling. If you don't know anything about share dealing and just want a high then this may suit you. If on the other hand the potential of losing your 5k is painful to you, then you could open a stocks and shares ISA on one of many platforms, including Fidelity, iweb, Vanguard, Hargreaves Lansdown etc and invest into a globally diverse fund (which contains hundreds or thousands of individual company's shares) like the ones from HSBC or Vanguard. I personally use a Lifestrategy fund on Vanguards own platform.
Is any of the above the right use for this money though? Would the money be better invested in your pension? Do you own your own property? What age are you, and when would you want to access this money again? What are your future goals? etc.Think first of your goal, then make it happen!0 -
Hello there!
I'd like to ask a similar question to the OP, but slightly more specific...
I have savings in a stocks and shares ISA which I add to weekly, have a few shares in a AJ Bell Youinvest account, have a mortgage on a property and have a few quid in crypto currencies.
Bear in mind, I know nothing about stocks, shares, etc, could somebody point me to an easy to use platform or app that I could use to buy more shares with really low fees that I could sell if they even go up slightly? (Scalping?)
I have a few grand coming my way in a day or so and wouldn't mind using a few quid of it (certainly not more than 3-500 of it) to try and learn a bit more about something of which I know nothing. As Barnstar, above has quite rightly termed it.... Gambling!
A friend of mine, who (unbelievably) knows even less than me, has been tinkering with a plus500 app and thinks its great, but would like a little feedback from someone a bit more savvy!

What are you going to do if they go down instead of going up slightly?Piginblanket said:Hello there!

I know the "norm" is to invest in funds - that's where my pension is. As I said I want to look at individual shares using the tax rebate as a fund. The pension is secure and the mortgage is paid. Access to the money again is not an immediate issue - I am happy to play a medium term "game".barnstar2077 said:It is normally recommended to invest in globally diversified funds before you consider individual shares.
