Gas Combi Boiler Guarantee?

Hi, Had guy in to fit a smart meter and he found a gas leak in the system this has been tracked down to a return valve in the Combi Boiler, we have a 5 year guarantee, boiler has been serviced yearly since first installed in 2018 and the company are sending someone on Monday but when our plumber phoned with the boiler fault readout he was told they have no replacment valves in the country at this time so my question is "If the engineer coming on Monday cannot fix or replace the valve (and we have been without hot water or heating since Tuesday 26th) would we be in a position to demand a new boiler be fitted immediatley?" Thank You, Russ.

Unlikely you could demand anything. What does the five year warranty say?0

As above, check your warranty but I very much doubt it entitles you to an immediate free replacement boiler.
Presumably you have got some electric heaters and a kettle to get you by for a while?0 -
Thankyou for replies, not read through the warranty as yet to be honest it was the plumber that installed said it was under warranty still and phone call to company confirmed this. Yes have an electric fire but as we are both nearing the 70 year mark we could do with heating and hot water. Thankyou again for repies.

If you have had the boiler serviced twice since it was installed(2019 and 2020) why did the people who serviced your boiler not notice this fault or does the non-return valve not fall under the boiler service/inspection to check this part?
For the 5 year warranty to be honoured do you have to have an approved contractor from the boiler manufacturer to keep the warranty valid?
I don't think they will replace the boiler with a new one if all that is needed is non-return valve.
I know this is not up to you to do but if you know the boiler model number and the part details you could do a google(other search engines out there) for that part and see if any are in stock. An old neighbour of mine was told by BG that a part was not available for his boiler and he did a search and got the part and after a few phone calls BG did come back and fit that part for him.
That maybe an option but if there are no parts in the country then that maybe true.
Tell MSE forum what make/model is and somebody might have more input for you.0 -
I'd make reading that warranty your priority. None of us will know what provisions it contains and what you're entitled to. It might be a parts only warranty, for example.0

That says repair not replace and is subject to terms and conditions .

You need to tell us which model it is - all the boilers on there are now 7 year warranty so its hard to work out.russellsnr said:Here is the online page for warranty.Boiler seviced by original installer as in warranty requirments with signed paper work to prove this and as stated previously when contacted company confirmed under warranty.ThanyouRuss

from that page you can get the docs to explain warranty.0 -
Evoke 28 is boiler.Although company said no spare part in stock when contacted last Tuesday by the installer we do wonder why they would send there own company engineer if there was not a fix available so will see what he/she has to say tomorrow. Thankyou, Russ.0

A new boiler? That would be a ludicrous demand. In extremis, they might agree to take a gas valve off another new boiler in stock to solve the issue, but you have no entitlement to expect a replacement, only a repair in a 'reasonable' time.
