OH, who is just 70, got a text message last week and made appointment for this coming Friday - but only the ability to make first appointment. I'm assuming/hoping that the follow-up appointment will be made while he is there . . .
It seems strange that some people are having to book both appts together, while others are not. It's not difficult!

It must be different depending on where you are. Everyone I know is sent a letter with the appointment dates and times on it.
Sounds like there is a huge difference around the country on how this is being handled1 -
I received a NHS letter, at the end of last month, inviting me to book for the jibby jabby. Either online or a dedicated phone number. The online process was very easy with three centres nearby. I chose Dresden (Stoke not Germany!) at 8 miles away. Sunday 7th Feb. with a choice of times throughout that day. Both appointments booked, 9.50am both days. Second is 2nd May.They were really well organised and the whole process took no more than 10 minutes plus a recommended further 10 minutes afterwards - in case of any reactions.Received a credit card sized card with vaccine details and a reminder re the 2nd dose. This process has at least been organised well - locally.0

Since last posting in this thread, I've received first dose but was advised GP surgery would contact me regarding second.
GP surgery had phoned me with offers of various appointment times for the first dose. The NHS letter arrived the day after the phone call.
Despite signs all over the vaccine hub (while standing in a queue, while seated before admin interview, and on paperwork) that one must wait for 15 minutes after administration of the vaccine, I was told to leave and not wait. They did check that I wasn't driving or being collected by anyone. I think they were avoiding having too many people in the enclosed space - it was raining outside and they probably wanted to get people indoors as quickly as possible.0 -
I had my first dose last Saturday, after receiving it I was given a card with the details of the jab and also that my 2nd dose was booked for 11 weeks later.0

Got a text from GP to follow link. Lots of times and days, 2 days later and 5mins to centre. Given card and told GP would do the same for second dose.

I’m in Group 6 (underlying health condition) as is OH (who has two of the listed qualifying health conditions) but when I tried to book I was told I wasn’t eligible as I was too young and I had to wait until everyone over 50 had been given their jab. Okay, but I’m Group 6, I explained. Not according to our system, you aren’t. You have to wait your turn, I was told. I tried for OH and was told the same (both of us are very definitely Group 6)
I called my GP surgery, who agreed we are both Group 6, and booked us in for our jabs on Thursday (today, eek) no sign of a second appointment but I’m sure they’ll sort that out with us. We could have problems though as OH is on leave this week- and he’s a keyworker who will struggle to get time off. I’m sure we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
