This thread about the Oculus should be a sticky, so popular as they have become.
I'm in my 60's and have one for about three of four months now.
I Love it, I'm no great gamer, spending hours on at a time, but do love the VR experience, so much content on there, and you can get Sidequest, enable Developer more, and get a lot of games legally free.

One of my favourite apps is Wander, piggybacks on google street view but so much more immersive, Walk around your area, visit a city, brilliant.

If you like a bit of free gambling then Pokerstars VR may be for you, poker, slots, blackjack, roulette.

Someone mentioned VRchat, but though the worlds are nice, mainly very young on there, as is Horizon Worlds from Facebook, you should be over 18, but there again mainly young.

All in all the Oculus Quest 2 is a great buy, I bought 128 GB version from Argos and also paid around £55 for four year accidental damage insurance, in my opinion you really need this (Currys insurance will not give you accidental damage)

After a while you will probably decide on a better strap rather than the stock that comes with it. I bought the Kiwi design strap from Amazon for £40, much more comfortable than stock strap.

So altogether a £400 or so outlay.

  • I know I’m resurrecting an old thread but I’m thinking of buying a meta quest 2 and I’m wondering if those who have had one for a while think they are worth the money?

I am a VR fan boy and currently have an Oculus Rift and a Quest 2. The Quest 2 is frankly a bargain for what you get. My advice is to go in slowly once you have the unit, play for shirt durations at first then extend as you adjust otherwise motion sickness can put you off.

In my experience, I've noticed the oculus 2 is pretty cool but its gets boring quickly. For example there are lots of mods and games only for PC vr and the app store is pretty expensive.
  • Well after researching reviews etc I purchased a Pico 4 and it is a fantastic bit of kit.

Had mine for about a year and a half now.
Im a big gamer although on in years.
It is amazing but I have it tethered to my pc so it does the heavy lifting.
Seems like most steam vr games run.

Honeslty though I cant get get passed the dizzyness.
Some games are fine but the big ones just to much going on.
Fish eye helps but kinda kills immersion.
Oh if you get one the comfort bundles really are gamechangers as the weight is evenly distributed on the headset.
