Hi guys

I have my back garden being landscaped on the 15th of February but my patio bush bare root roses have just turned up. I know normally I would soak them in water for 24 hours and then get planting them in the garden but that’s not an option right now.

Would I be okay to plant them in pots until the renovation work is done and then plant them out into my new rose border?

I'd separate them up and plant them temporarily in a close group in a spare area of ground. They will be fine to transplant if you do it before the end of February. Save yourself the bother of potting them. If they grow any tiny roots in the pots these will most likely get broken when you plant out.

With this weather just put them on soil and cover the roots. They aren't going to be short of water.
I did this with a new plum tree and the apples with no ill effects. I was surprised how well they coped.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

thanks both. I've put them into a patch of garden that won't be touched. :)
