Fake BT email alert

This morning I was sent a fake email purporting to be from BT saying my invoice hadn't been paid and if I didnt update my info and pay I may lose my monthly subscription. If you get this email dont open it, it's phishing for your bank account details. Genuine BT emails dont ever talk of the phone service as a subscription. HTH

got phone call yesterday, recorded message claiming to be from bt telling me I have malaware issues in my broadband connection, and it can seriously endanger my internet security. I just ignored it. trouble is some people get taken in by all this stuff and end up giving all there details to a complete stranger.0

I had a similar call. I laughed at the guy and told him that he was mistaken as we were with a different company altogether.0

In todays modern interconnected world everyone is handing over their email address and phone numbers without a second thought .. that information is then copied/hacked/sold and before you know it you are on the end of reams of advertising junk, spam and eventually scams .. There is no real cure, we just have to be on our guard ...
It's possible to set up 'filers' on email content .. so anything with BT/TV Licence/Car tax/HMRC Tax rebate and everything that purports to be from Barclays or contains the word 'lottery' can go straight to the Junk folder. I screen all my phone calls by letting them go to the answer machine ...0 -
These days nearly all my family's scam calls purporting to come from BT/Amazon/Bank/HM customs/Sky are recorded announcements from a lady with an English accent.
