reclaiming interest/carers allowance

I want to make a claim for interest paid having received compensation in 2019 when I also started receiving the standard carers allowance. Do I need to put the carers allowance received on the R40 for that year. I have tried without success to contact HMRC and if that is the case to find out what the amount is. I did not understand what it meant on the guidance notes. Thanks

Presumably you mean you want to claim back the tax deducted from interest?
Carers Allowance is a taxable benefit and needs to be included on the R40. It goes in box 2.5 on the paper form.
