HELP!!! Breaking the Chain

So my Jour ey has been a rollercoaster but to cut it short we were due to exchange today but didn’t due to problems lower down the chain and conveyancers not communicating. We are now due to exchange Monday but my ATE from HTB needs renewing and they have said this will happen on Friday. My buyers need to complete by Friday as their mortgage offer expires. So solicitors have advised same day exchange and completion.
Could we exchange with our buyers for the sale on Monday and complete on Friday for the sale and break the chain...and then the week after exchange and complete on our purchase. We could easily spend a week at the in laws and the developer has agreed for us to move our stuff in but obviously not have keys...
is it possible to break the chain for a week?

So we would just allow our sale to proceed to exchange and completion..solicitor holds onto funds..and then a few days later exchanges and completes with our vendor?? Simple??MovingForwards said:Yes it is.0 -
Simple. Unless your purchase then falls through...0

If the purchase falls through..it falls through..at least we will then be chain free buyers ready to move right away..Slithery said:Simple. Unless your purchase then falls through...1 -
Yes of course that’s possible. I’m surprised your developer had agreed to let you move your stuff in but that saves you storage costs & 2 x removal fees. We’re doing exactly that, but in temp accommodation for 4 weeks rather than one. Load of hassle & expensive but worth it rather than lose our sale.Good luck1
