Charges for returning goods bought online from J Crew.
You might be interested the charges this US company makes for delivery and returns for their online sales. I know that they have had severe financial problems and that their UK shops have closed permanently, but they continue to trade online. Their P&P charges are pretty steep, at £15 per delivery, but if you want to return an item in line with our consumer regulations, you discover that a further £35 is charged. There is no allowance for exchanging an item which, for example, might not fit. If you want to change a size it will cost you £65. Apparently the charges are shown in their T&Cs but they strike me as punitive and unfair and designed to circumvent our consumer rights.

They're an American company who ship from the U.S. - that's why shipping and returns are expensive. Under U.S. law you typically have no right of return anyway (the applicable legislation depends on the state), they're not bound by any UK consumer legislation. It's always a good idea to check T&Cs before you order, especially for foreign companies.0

CANNOT RETURN UNCOMFORTABLE COMPUTER CHAIR
Please can anyone advise us on this. We bought a computer chair online for £140 from Wayfair. Having put it together we find it is uncomfortable and the headrest is too low even though the user is only 5'9". The company says we cannot return it because it has to go back in the original box. It is IMPOSSIBLE to do that because it is constructed in such a way that you cannot later separate the legs from the seat. We ordered on 24th Jan. Tesco Credit card say it is not faulty or damaged so they cannot help.
Please let us know if you can suggest a course of action? Or perhaps you know what the law says?
Many thanks.0 -
