Working From Home Tax Relief

If, like most of the UK my normal tax code is 1250L, what should it change to if i have been successful in applying for the £6 a week, working from home tax relief?
HMRC acknowledged my online application & said i would hear something within 15 days - that was over 2 months ago, & i still haven't!
My employer has checked their systems & no changes have been processed that they can see, so nothing has changed in my Jan payslip, which i have just received.
I have seen lots of articles about claiming this online, but none seem to confirm what your tax code should then become, to take into account the £312 a year saving that Martin talks of.
Though he then also talks of a gain of £62 for a basic rate taxpayer, so even if & when my tax code does change, i'm not sure whether i'm going to be £312 or £62 a year better off, to cover my working from home costs?
My friend said theirs had changed to 1281L - which, in my unqualified, simplistic terms sees a £31 a month uplift in their allowance before they start paying tax, or £372 a year!
Is that right?
Any help or advice which confirms answers to any of the above appreciated.
Thank-You.

It would change from 1250L to 1281L.
Assuming you didn't claim a week or two for the 2019:20 tax year.
The tax saving is based on your taxable income so can range from £0.00 to £187 (in extreme circumstances).
For most people it is £0 (no tax paid to reduce), £62 (£312 x 20%) or £124 (£312 x 40).
Don't know how you arrived at £372?
Have you checked your Personal Tax Account to see what that shows your tax code as?2 -
The tax code increase from 1250L to 1281L does not equate to £31 extra allowances per month (or £372 per year) The personal allowance has increased from 12500 to 12810 which is 310 of an increase - per annum! The final digit is knocked off to arrive at the code number.2

OP seems to have calculated with a year being 10 months long initially.
£310/10 = 31x12 = 372.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride1
